Our school
This means we will always work to;
Undertake that role so as to enable our students/young people to have optimum life chances and enter adulthood successfully.
This policy will give clear direction to staff, volunteers, visitors and parents about the expected behaviour and our legal responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all students in our school.
Our school fully recognises the contribution it can make to protect students from harm and to support and promote the welfare of all students who are registered pupils at our school. The elements of our policy are prevention, protection and support.
Our policy applies to all pupils, staff, parents, governors, volunteers and visitors.
Our school will establish and maintain an ethos where our pupils feel secure, are encouraged to talk, are listened to and are safe. Students at our school will be able to talk freely to any member of staff or professional visitor to our school if they are worried or concerned about something.
All staff and regular visitors will, either through training or induction, know how to recognise indicators of concern, how to respond to a disclosure from a student and will know how to record and report this information. We will not make promises to any student and we will not keep secrets. Students are always made aware of the circumstances when information will be disclosed to others at the outset of the conversation.
Throughout our curriculum we will provide activities and opportunities that will equip our students with the skills they need to stay safe. Our students are taught how to develop essential life skills, such as staying safe and dealing with issues and experiences linked to child protection.
At all times we will work in partnership and endeavour to establish effective working relationships with parents, carers and colleagues from other agencies.
